Young people are not simply participants in HIV prevention programmes. They are advocates, educators and leaders driving change within their communities.

On 30 July 2026, the African Women Prevention Community Accountability Board (AWPCAB) will host a youth-led booth session during IAS 2026 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The session will bring together young advocates from across Africa to share their perspectives and experiences of leading HIV prevention engagement. Delegates will hear directly from the featured speakers, watch a short video and join a conversation on what meaningful youth leadership in HIV prevention looks like.

Featured speakers

  • Yvette Raphael, South Africa
  • Chilufya Hampongo, Zambia
  • Clarisse Niyodusenga, Rwanda
  • Siviwe Gaika, South Africa
