HIV Testing

Testing Preparation Checklist

A few things to sort out before your testing visit.

AWPCAB advocates and community members

  • Bring an ID if your clinic asks for one (many don't, testing can be anonymous).
  • Know the date of your last possible exposure, so the window period can be assessed.
  • Write down any questions you want to ask the counsellor.
  • Arrange a support person if you'd like someone with you.
  • Plan your transport and a time you won't feel rushed.
  • Know where you can get your results, and where to access PrEP or PEP if needed.

Educational only, not a medical diagnosis.
